SOMA Matt Semmelhack‘s short-lived TBD has been reborn as Fénix, a colorful new Mexican spotat 7th and Mission Streets in SoMa. While the open-fire hearth left with the old campfire vibe, the renovation brings large, shareable plates and plenty of sangria. [EaterWire]

NAPA — Up north, Curtis Di Fede (Oenotri, Terra) combines California cuisine with a Japanese Izakaya at Miminashi in downtown Napa. Expect a beautiful, zen-like interior with lots of natural light and wood, plus an open binchotan grill for yakitori and an omakase-style chef’s counter. [EaterWire]
